New Details About Norwegian Prima Released
Today, Norwegian Cruise Line released new renderings of the brand new ship, Norwegian Prima, and we got a first look into this groundbreaking vessel. The Norwegian Prima launches in August 2022 from Amsterdam, followed by her US inaugurals along the east coast and Galveston, Texas. NCL has been very secretive of the details of the new Leonardo class of ships, only giving small bits here and there. Today’s rendering release has the cruise community in a frenzy - here’s why:
The Vibe Beach Club on the Norwegian Prima is located on deck 17. This is an exclusive space for adults 18 and over, with a quiet, laid-back atmosphere. The Vibe requires an all access pass to enter, which is an extra charge on top of the base cruise fare, and sold in very limited quantities. There are plenty of padded loungers, infinity pools, and sweeping ocean views from this private oasis, and it’s a great alternative to booking a stateroom in The Haven (and a lot cheaper, if you’re lucky enough to get a pass)!
The Aqua Park on Norwegian Prima will feature a tidal wave waterslide, which will be the first of it’s kind at sea. This is a single rider tube slide, with enclosed and open air sections over the side of the ship. The Kids Aqua Park appears to have a splash pad with some partial shade coverings. It is currently unknown what is planned for the most forward section of the ship, but already, there doesn’t seem to be a shortage of infinity hot tubs on the upper decks, and down on Ocean Boulevard.
According to the deck plans, deck 8 will feature Ocean Boulevard, a new concept replacing the Waterfront. This outdoor promenade will feature “experiences” of outdoor dining, the Oceanwalk - a see through glass walkway, Indulge Outdoor Lounge - an extension of the Indulge Food Hall, The Concourse Sculpture Park, and Infinity Beach - a relaxing oasis with infinity pools. The Infinity Beaches are on both the port and starboard sides of deck 8. If you are familiar with Norwegian’s Breakaway class of ships, this will be similar to the Waterfront’s outdoor dining, bars, and lounging - but utilized as an extension of the interior spaces. Currently, Los Lobos, Onda by Scarpetta, The Local, and Indulge Food Hall are the first of the dining venues listed on the deck plans.
At first glance, we thought these slides on the side of the ship were waterslides, but after looking closely at the photos, it seems that these are dueling dry slides. The landing area shows that the sides of the slide are open, so there would not be water. The Drop & Rush slides are ten stories tall, and some of the fastest dry slides at sea.
The Speedway go-kart track aboard Norwegian Prima will be three levels. If Norwegian keeps the same pricing structure as the Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Encore & Norwegian Joy, guests will be able to pay per ride, or get a pass for the duration of the cruise. These carts are electric and, according to Norwegian, will not disrupt any guest cabins with noise. This is the longest race track Norwegian Cruise Line has built on a cruise ship to date.
The Prima Theater & Club is a dynamic venue that will transform from a three story theater by day, to a Vegas-style nightclub by night. There will be daily events from The Price is Right gameshow to late night dance parties with DJs and light shows.
We cannot wait to get more information about the Norwegian Prima, and everything this beautiful ship has to offer. What are you most excited for?
