Norwegian Escape Oceanview Stateroom Photo Tour & Review - Stateroom 5702
During our recent Caribbean cruise on the Norwegian Escape, we were thrilled to receive an upgrade to an oceanview stateroom, Cabin 5702. Norwegian Cruise Line offers passengers the chance to bid on stateroom upgrades, sending out invitations to participate 90 days before sailing. Originally, we had booked an inside stateroom but decided to bid for an oceanview upgrade—and were successful. It's important to note that when you're awarded an upgrade, you don't get to choose the specific location of your new cabin, which can be a gamble for those particular about their room's placement. For us, the priority was securing a room with an outside view, making this risk well worth it.
Room Layout and Features
The room's spaciousness was the first thing that impressed us. It featured a king-sized bed that could be easily converted into two twin beds, catering to different preferences. The window ledge was notably large, offering a cozy spot to sit and admire the sea—a highlight of our stay.
Storage was abundant in the stateroom, with shelves located under the desk, under and above the TV, and inside the closet. This variety of storage options made organizing our items effortless. The closet was divided into a section with shelves and a safe for storing valuables and another section for hanging clothes. The bathroom provided all the essentials and maintained a standard size. Additional amenities like an ottoman for the desk and a mini-fridge further contributed to our comfort during the stay.
Pros and Cons
The generous size of the room and its proximity to decks 6, 7, and 8, as well as the Waterfront, stood out as significant advantages, ensuring both comfort and convenience. The room's ample storage and the expansive window ledge were also appreciated, enhancing our living space.
Initially, we were concerned about potential noise from the theatre located above us, but to our relief, we heard no noise from the theatre throughout our stay, which was a pleasant surprise.
However, the stateroom's location did have its drawbacks. Being on the same deck as the anchor and directly above the bow thrusters meant we experienced noise during the ship's docking and anchoring processes. Additionally, the closeness to the tenders led to early morning disturbances on several occasions.
Conclusion
In summary, the oceanview stateroom Room 5702 on the Norwegian Escape offers a fantastic combination of spacious accommodation, strategic positioning for ship exploration, and serene ocean views. Despite some noise from the ship's operational activities, the absence of disturbance from the theatre and the overall benefits of the room made our stay very enjoyable. We recommend this room type to fellow travelers, advising those sensitive to noise to consider a mid-ship location. The oceanview stateroom significantly enhanced our cruise, providing a comfortable and memorable experience.
