Carnival Cruise Line New Vegan Menu & Vegan Food Photos

Carnival Cruise Line has initiated a significant culinary expansion by introducing vegan menus on its cruise ships. The rollout began with Carnival Freedom in Port Canaveral, Florida, and Carnival Horizon at PortMiami, marking the start of a phased implementation across the entire fleet by the end of the year. The rollout schedule is listed below in this post.

Responding to Evolving Preferences

This strategic move comes in response to the growing preference for plant-based dining options, not only on land but also at sea. Richard Morse, Senior Vice President of Food and Beverage at Carnival Cruise Line, highlighted the importance of adapting to changing dietary needs and preferences. While Carnival already accommodates various dietary requirements, the introduction of these vegan menus aims to streamline ordering processes in the dining room and enhance kitchen efficiency.

A Diverse Vegan Menu Offering

The new vegan menus feature a selection of appetizers, entrees, and desserts that are entirely vegan. Carnival's chefs have developed recipes for these menu items, ensuring they do not include any animal products, and they incorporate meat substitutes for proteins. Some notable menu items include:

Appetizers

  • Hawaiian Salmon Poke – a refreshing starter that combines plant-based salmon, edamame, mango and cucumber.

  • Stuffed Mushrooms – four fried mushrooms, stuffed with delicious plant-based cheeses and spinach.

  • Spaghetti Carbonara – a flavorful pasta with vegan bacon, onion and garlic, this dish can be ordered as a starter or entrée.

Entrees

  • Grilled Tofu Steak – a savory tofu steak covered in honey barbecue sauce, accompanied by a Hasselback potato and mixed vegetables.

  • Baked Vegetable Au Gratin – a medley of mixed vegetables, combined with vol-au-vent and sprinkled with melted plant-based cheeses.

  • Eggplant Cutlet a la Parmigiana – a tasty entrée, covered in savory vegan mozzarella, topped with pesto and basil leaves.

Desserts

  • Key Lime Velvet Cake – a fruity spin on the classic key lime pie, this cake combines flavors of citrus with raspberry and strawberry.

  • Dutch Double Chocolate Pave – with alternating layers of cake and buttercream frosting, this dessert is a chocolate lover’s dream.

  • Cappuccino Pot de Créme – a treat with coffee flavors, surrounding cinnamon crème chantilly.

The rollout of these vegan menus will take place over the coming months. Carnival Magic served as the pilot ship for this initiative. Carnival Dream will be the next ship to implement the menus, followed by Carnival Valor, Carnival Radiance, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Panorama, and Mardi Gras by the end of the current month. Subsequently, the menus will be introduced on more ships, including Carnival Celebration, Carnival Sunrise, Carnival Glory, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Vista, Carnival Breeze, Carnival Sunshine, and Carnival Elation by the end of October. Carnival Paradise and Carnival Spirit will introduce the menus by the end of November, with Carnival Legend, Carnival Venezia, and the new Carnival Jubilee to follow before the end of December.
